DR. DENNIS GALLENBERG
Dr. Dennis graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a BS in Animal Science. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1983. He founded Barrington Oaks Veterinary Hospital in 1986, with his medical interests including internal medicine, dentistry, surgery and canine sports medicine. Dr. Dennis’s hobbies are working with his Gordon setters and chocolate labrador retrievers, hunting and fishing.
DR. KIM GALLENBERG
She attended the University of Minnesota for Animal Science and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1983. After being classmates in Veterinary School, she and Dr. Dennis married in 1986, and she joined Barrington Oaks in 1988. Her veterinary interests include geriatric feline medicine, internal medicine, avian, and small mammal/pocket pet husbandry and care. Dr. Kim’s hobbies are showing her American Saddlebred horses, caring for her rescued Persians and Munchkin cats, and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. Dr. Dennis and Dr. Kim have a daughter, Cameron, who is also attending the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.
DR. SARAH COTTOM
Dr. Sarah is a California native. She attended the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine with special interests in dermatology, ophthalmology, and internal medicine. She enjoys running, cooking, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
DR. LIZ PEPIN
Dr. Liz Pepin was born in Brooklyn Park, MN and later lived in South Dakota then North Dakota where she received her B.A. in Fine Studio Arts from Jamestown College. She went on to graduate from Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Her professional interests include ophthalmology, exotic/pocket pet medicine, and preventative medicine. She shares her home with her rescued pets: a dwarf rabbit, dog and cat. Her hobbies include cooking, dancing, trips to Disney World and spending time outdoors.
DR. AMANDA POEPKE
Dr. Amanda grew up on a beef farm in Little Falls, MN. She completed her undergrad at St. Cloud State University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. She went on the receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the U of M. Her special interests include surgery, preventative medicine, nutrition, and internal medicine. When she’s not working she enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with her husband, daughter, 2 German Shepherds and 2 cats.
DR. RICK PETERSON
Dr. Rick Peterson was raised in North Branch, Minnesota. He is a 1988 graduate from the University of Minnesota with a B. S. in Biology and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. Dr. Rick is a member of the AVMA and MVMA with a special interest in canine and feline medicine and surgery. He and his wife have one son. He enjoys woodworking, outdoor activities, gardening and landscaping and takes interest in old cars and trucks.
DR. ALEDA TYSVER
I grew up on a farm in northeastern South Dakota. My family raised dairy cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. Dogs and barn cats completed the picture. These early experiences nurtured my life-long love for animals and eventually led to my career choice to become a veterinarian. My undergraduate years were spent at the University of South Dakota and the University of Minnesota. I obtained my DVM degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. My special interests include feline medicine, dermatology, behavior medicine and client education. My family consists of adult children and twin granddaughters. Currently I share my home with a pampered 18 year old kitty named Bessie.Outside of the clinic setting, I enjoy hiking, biking, reading and singing in the choir.
Michelle knew since she was a little girl that she wanted to work with animals. She attended the Minnesota School of Business to become a veterinary technician and graduated in 2004. She has been with Barrington Oaks Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years. She enjoys it very much and has learned to and loves working with all kinds of exotic animals in addition to dogs and cats. Michelle has 1 dog, 1 cat, and 1 chinchilla. Her hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. When she’s not working Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband and sons.
I’ve been at BOVH since January 2002. I graduated from Minnesota School of Business and I have been in the veterinary field for more than 15 years. I always knew from a very young age I would do something with animals. My family has always had pets growing up and I loved it. I have 3 children- A boy, & boy/girl twins. I like to go boating and hang with the family in my spare time. I have 2 dogs and a hamster.
I graduated from Argosy University as a Veterinary technician and I’ve been with BOVH since 2004. I’ve known this is what I wanted to do since I was a kid. I love going into work every day and treating other’s pets as if they were my own. I have an almost 5-year-old daughter who takes all my time outside of work. We enjoy camping, swimming, and spending time with our 2 cats, Three and Moana.
Tami grew up in Elk River and is an Elk River High School graduate. She then graduated from Piedmont Tech. School in SC, with her LVT in 2014. She moved to MN and received her CVT in 2016. She has one horse, 1 dog, and 2 cats. Tami’s interests include caring for her many pets, reading, cross-stitching and going on walks.
Alesha is a graduate of Minnesota School of Business in Dec. 2009, and obtained her CVT certification in Jan. 2010. She has been with Barrington Oaks since May 2014. Alesha has a special interest in exotics and specializes in them. Her hobbies are baking, crafting and enjoying a good book. She lives in Elk River with various exotic pets.
I’ve been with BOVH since January 2020. I’ve always had a passion and love for animals growing up. I have been working with them for the past 5 years. In 2017, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with my Bachelor’s in Animal Science. Along with working at Barrington as a technician, I run my own pet sitting business, so I keep very busy. I currently live with my boyfriend and four pets, 2 rottweilers, Bella and Chloe, and 2 cats, Sebastian and Sabrina. In my spare time, I like to take my dogs to the park, watch movies, and relax. In the future, I hope to apply to vet school and become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
I’ve been with BOVH since Spring 2020, I graduated from MN School of Business in 2015 with an Associates’ degree in Veterinary Technology. Since I was young, I’ve known I wanted to work with animals and take care of them. I have cystic fibrosis and love educating and bringing awareness to others about my condition. I enjoy playing with my dogs, hanging with my horse, relaxing out on the lake, and spending time with family.
Anna has been a veterinary assistant with Barrington Oaks since 2006. She has three Labrador retrievers and two cats. Her hobbies include dog training, hunting and fishing. She enjoys being outdoors. Anna has her Associate Degree in Business Management and hopes to one day open a boarding and training facility.
My name is Catie and I feel very privileged to be a member of the Barrington Oaks team! I can safely say that I have been an animal lover my whole life! As such, I was attracted to the area of veterinary medicine and have been working in the field for about 5 years. When not working, I enjoy spending time with family. Fishing and yard work are among my other hobbies.
I’ve had the great pleasure of working with the BOVH family since 1988! The best part of my job is visiting with clients and their pets. I grew up in Lake Benton, Minnesota, my husband and I have 4 kids- 2 boys and 2 girls. I love to read, sew by hand, bake, ride a motorcycle with Eric my husband, and playing with her cats and dogs.
I’ve been with BOVH since July 2019, I work as a receptionist and love getting to interact with our clients daily. I have 3 kids and 2 dogs. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and camping.
